Stephen is the inspirational senior partner of Comptons. Stephen set up Comptons in 1987 and the firm has recently celebrated 30 years of successful practice. Nicholas Goldreich Partner - Head of the Dispute Resolution Department

Nicholas Goldreich

Nick is the head of the dispute resolution department and has been a qualified litigator for more than 25 years.  He has been a Partner at Comptons since 1990.  Nick specialises in property and commercial litigation to which he brings an enthusiastic and pragmatic approach. Nick's professional objectives are to achieve the most favourable outcome for his clients in the shortest possible time and at the least cost to them.  He is an effective negotiator and has a strong commitment to alternative dispute resolution. Nick successfully represented a landlord in the reported case of Staghold Limited v. Takeda (2005), an employer in the reported case of Ward v. Ashkenazi (2011) and has been involved in numerous other high profile cases.

Angela Neale Partner - Property Department

Angela Neale

Angela has worked at Comptons since 2000 and has been a partner since 2004. Angela is the Head of our Residential Conveyancing Department and specialises in all aspects of residential conveyancing

Angela's professional but personable manner means that she works for both homeowners with one off transactions and property dealers alike. James Compton Partner - Enfranchisement Department

James Compton

After obtaining an upper second class degree in law with honours from the University of Sussex and completing the Legal Practice Course at Nottingham Law School, James completed his training at Comptons, qualifying in 2004. James initially practised in property litigation.

He has since specialised in enfranchisement, lease extensions, right to manage and advising property companies in various aspects of company law and advises in relation to professional negligence relating to enfranchisement. James became a Partner on 1 May 2009 and founded the award winning Lease Clinic in 2010.

In February 2014 James was asked by the Leasehold Advisory Service to provide advise to its users on right to manage. The podcast can be found here.

Martin Barrett Partner - Dispute Resolution / Employment

Martin Barrett

Martin joined Comptons in 2003 and became a partner in 2004. He has over 25 years litigation experience in a broad range of property and commercial litigation. His sympathetic and pragmatic approach has helped him build his broad caseload and he assists clients in all aspects of the resolution of their dispute, whether to successful settlement or unavoidable court action where the possibility of settlement is still considered. Martin can help in all areas of general litigation, property, landlord and tenant, matrimonial/divorce, pre-nuptial agreements, co-habitation/partner disputes,enfranchisement and employment.

Jean Compton Practice Manager

Jean Compton

Jean assisted with the formation of the practice in May 1987 and has been involved in the development of the firm since that date. Jean is responsible for the day-to-day practice management and administration of the firm on all levels including support staff and secretarial liaison and training.

Jean is responsible for the day-to-day practice management and administration of the firm on all levels and ensuring that the Practice’s client care and policies and procedures continue to achieve Lexcel and CQS (Conveyancing Quality Scheme) Accreditations.

Sarah Jennings Associate Partner - Enfranchisement Department

Sarah Jennings

Sarah graduated with a first class honors degree in law (LLB hons) at the National University of Ireland Galway before completing the Legal Practice Course at The College of Law in Bloomsbury, London.

Sarah completed her training contract at a City based law firm and qualified as a solicitor in March 2011 joining Comptons in April 2011. Sarah works exclusively in the enfranchisment department alongside James Compton dealing with all matters concerning enfranchisements, lease extensions, missing landlords and ancillary Court/Leasehold Valuation Tribunal applications. Sarah is often complimented by clients on her friendly and efficient service. Sarah prides herself on carrying out a problem free service in a very complicated area of law.

Lisa Noble Partner

Lisa Noble

Lisa qualified in August 2008 having obtained a 2:1 degree at Hertfordshire University and her LPC at Guildford College of Law.   Lisa’s training was conducted in the Property department of a large South Coast based firm and she has continued her career in Residential Property since moving to London.  She joined the Residential Conveyancing team at Comptons in 2014 and was immediately a popular choice for Comptons’ clients. Lisa will be happy to help you with the buying, selling or re-financing  of your home or investments property and will do all she can to push the transaction through as quickly as possible without the jargon, whilst making sure you always know what’s going on.

Daniel Gower Associate Partner – Licensed Conveyancer

Daniel Gower

Daniel is a licensed conveyancer. He has been at Comptons since February 2011 carrying out residential conveyancing for developers and one-off buyers and sellers alike. Lanka Bandara Associate Partner - Wills and Probate

Lanka Bandara

Lanka qualified some 10 years ago as a  Barrister in both England and Sri Lanka  and has recently qualified as an English Solicitor through the Qualified Transfer Scheme. In recent years Lanka has specialised  in Wills and Probate dealing with all aspects of private client matters, including drafting Wills, Estate Planning, Administration of Estates and Trusts, preparing Lasting Powers of Attorney and assisting with contentious probate matters. Lanka is an Affiliated Member of STEP.  The Society of Trusts and Estate Practitioner (STEP) is the professional body for practitioners in the field of trusts, estates, executorship, and related issues.  Full members of STEP (TEPs) are the most experienced and senior practitioners in the field of trusts and estates.

Jon Finebaum Associate Partner – Dispute Resolution Department

Jon Finebaum

Jon was admitted as a solicitor in 2010, and has practised in dispute resolution ever since.  He has particular expertise in areas such as property and landlord & tenant litigation, commercial / contract disputes, personal injury, employment, contentious probate and construction law. 

Jon’s clients include large plcs, local authorities, owners of large property portfolios and businesses of all shapes and sizes.  His clients particularly appreciate his clear and frank advice, his uncompromising negotiation style as well as his ability to settle complex disputes on favourable terms while minimising his clients’ exposure to legal fees.      

Jon acted for the successful appellant in Alfa Laval v. Separator Spares [2013] 1 WLR 1110 (CA), in which the Court of Appeal developed the test for determining whether breach of confidence / copyright claims against former employees are ‘matters relating to individual contracts of employment’ under Articles 18(1) and 20 of the Brussels I Regulation.

Jasmine Phayre Solicitor – Residential Property

Jasmine Phayre

Jasmine qualified in 2016 with a Law degree from the University of Hull and completed the LPC at the College of Law London Bloomsbury. Jasmine, originally for Norwich completed her training contract split between Norwich and London and on qualification decided to remain in London. Jasmine joined Comptons Solicitors in September 2017 as an Assistant Solicitor in the Residential team and specialises in all aspects of residential transactions.

Molly Perez-Sphar Solicitor

Molly Perez-Sphar

Molly graduated with a First Class Honors degree in law (LLB hons) at Nottingham Law School. She then went on to obtain a Distinction from BPP Law School where she completed the LPC. Molly commenced her training with Comptons on 1 August 2016 and qualified as a Solicitor on 1 August 2018. 

Molly has now joined the Residential team as an Assistant Solicitor and specialises in all aspects of residential transactions including sales, purchases, re-mortgages and transfer of equity.

Sadaf Hariri Solicitor – Enfranchisement Department

Sadaf Hariri

Sadaf graduated with a degree in law from Kings College London and then went on to complete a Masters in Human Rights Law. She had experience in the voluntary and not for profit sectors both in the UK and the Middle East before going on to work in house for a London based property company dealing with various aspects of residential leasehold law.

Sadaf completed her training contract at a niche London firm specialising in landlord and tenant and enfranchisement law,  and qualified as a solicitor in December 2015. 

Sadaf joined  Comptons in January 2019 and works in the enfranchisement department alongside James Compton and Sarah Jennings, dealing with a variety of matters including the right to manage, right of first refusal under the Landlord and Tenant Act 1987, and collective enfranchisements and lease extensions under the 1993 Act. Sadaf has also had experience in service charge and appointment of a manager applications at the First Tier Property Tribunal.  Sadaf enjoys working with a variety of different clients, including landlords, management companies and group leaseholders alike. She regards the satisfaction of problem solving in a very technical and specialist area of law as the most rewarding part of her role.

Adaobi Cliffe Solicitor

Adaobi Cliffe

Adaobi graduated with an upper second class Honours degree in Law (LLB Hons) from the University of Leeds and completed the LPC at City University, London. She was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in April 2019 after completing her training contract at a City based law firm.

Adaobi joined Comptons Solicitors in April 2019 as an Assistant Litigation Solicitor in the Dispute Resolution Department. She deals with predominantly property-based litigation, including landlord and tenant issues such as recovery of service charge arrears, repairing issues, nuisance, boundary disputes, contentious enfranchisement, debt recovery and other general litigious/dispute matters.
